Reconstruction of wide azimuth seismic data: assumptions, methodology and field examples

چکیده
The Minimum Weighted Norm Interpolation (MWNI) algorithm (Liu and Sacchi, 2004, Trad et al. 2005) has been proposed as a method to reconstruct band-limited seismic data that depends on 1, 2, 3 and 4 spatial dimensions. In addition, Sacchi and Liu (2005) and Hunt et. al (2008) have demonstrated the ability of the method to reconstruct the data prior to true amplitude migration. Recently, Trad (2009) provided a full description of the method and its application to 5D seismic data regularization. That work emphasizes the realistic industrial strength of the method for seismic data processing flows.

3D North Sea case study of reconstruction
Irregularly and sparsely sampled seismic data that has been shot with a predominant azimuth for long offsets can be completely reconstructed. Our method uses reposting along receiver lines to exact crossline positions, followed by least squares reconstruction in the midpoint-offset domain. This reconstruction scheme has been applied to a 3D marine dataset from the North Sea. Various aspects and...
متن کاملOptimizing design of 3D seismic acquisition by CRS trace interpolation
Land seismic data acquisition in most of cases suffers from obstacles in fields which deviates geometry of the real acquired data from what was designed. These obstacles will cause gaps, narrow azimuth and offset limitation in the data. These shortcomings, not only prevents regular trace distribution in bins, but also distorts the subsurface image by reducing illumination of the target formatio...

Nowadays geomechanics plays a major role in optimizing the production and development stages of hydrocarbon reservoirs. The high cost of drilling wells and maintaining a functional well entails companies to utilize geomechanical modeling to determine the most efficient drilling path and the safest mud windows in order to maintain the stability of the well and prevent critical fracturing and col...

متن کاملA Nuclear Norm Minimization Algorithm with Application
In this paper we present a new algorithm to reconstruct prestack (5D) seismic data. If one considers seismic data at a given frequency and, for instance, in the x midpoint, y midpoint, offset and azimuth domain, the data volume can be represented via a 4th order tensor. Seismic data reconstruction can be posed as a tensor completion problem where it is assumed that the fully sampled data can be...
